The Biodiversity Country Study Report
, comprises six (6) sectors namely Socio-economic Issues, Agricultural Biodiversity, Forest, Marine/Coastal, Freshwater Ecosystems and Tourism:
provides information which assisted in the development of the NBSAP, (by highlighting the causes of
biodiversity loss, the existing policy/regulatory framework and institutional and human capacity,
current and proposed strategies, technologies and programmes for conservation and sustainable use, cross sectoral issues, existing gaps and needs, etc.);
contains existing information on the status of the nation’s biodiversity in a form which is readily
available to students, researchers and management authorities;
assembles existing information on the status of St. Lucia’s biodiversity which was previously widely
dispersed;
provides baseline data for future studies;
includes a list of available documentation on biodiversity issues in St. Lucia;
documents information on traditional ecological knowledge which was previously unrecorded.
