BIODIVERSITY ENABLING ACTIVITY PROJECT
AWARENESS SURVEY

Why the Survey?
The Biodiversity Enabling Activity Project in the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries is presently engaged in an activity to assess the capacity building needs, as far as Biodiversity Conservation is concerned. An important aspect of Biodiversity Conservation is the preservation of Biodiversity Related Knowledge with special emphasis on traditional knowledge. With this aim in mind, Working Group III of the project is charged with the responsibility to undertake investigations into the acquisition and documentation of such knowledge.

In order that the aforementioned be accomplished, one of the objectives is the assessment of the perceptions of the public and sectors as far as the importance of biodiversity is concerned. To this end, the survey was seen as one of the instruments for the collection of that type of data.
